What is a noun?

A noun is a word that represents a person, place, animal, thing, or an idea.

In other words, we can say that a noun is a naming word.

Examples of Different Types of Nouns

It is interesting to know that an action can function as either a noun or a verb depending on its role in the sentence.

For example, consider the following two sentences:

  1. Dancing is a good form of exercise. (Noun)
  2. I dance regularly. (Verb)
